Instead of tearing down the Viaduct, the estimated $2.3 million (in demo & clean up costs) can be reassigned to SAVING the Viaduct IF a stabilization, reuse and maintenance PLANS are created – and there is clear COMMUNITY SUPPORT. Preservation “Happy Hour”

Co-hosted by City Councilman Dave Brennan and Civitas Erie member Lisa Austin, this event is free and open to the public. The happy hour will include brief updates from organizations / individuals working to repurpose structures (please RSVP w/ Lisa) will be followed by a conversation with JEREMY YOUNG, an Erie ex-pat (Pittsburgh). Young will discuss his decision to invest in Gem City real estate. Snacks provided. Cash Bar.

Four artists (Lisa Austin, Martha Gorzycki, Tavia La Follette and Lane Cooper) will be gathering at the International Sculpture Conference (Sculpture, Culture and Community) in New Orleans, LA on Friday, October 3 at 9am to discuss how they are each working to pull together diverse communities in their various art practices (from animation, action and performance to political protest and political candidacy.)
