Instead of tearing down the Viaduct, the estimated $2.3 million (in demo & clean up costs) can be reassigned to SAVING the Viaduct IF a stabilization, reuse and maintenance PLANS are created – and there is clear COMMUNITY SUPPORT. Four artists (Lisa Austin, Martha Gorzycki, Tavia La Follette and Lane Cooper) will be gathering at the International Sculpture Conference (Sculpture, Culture and Community) in New Orleans, LA on Friday, October 3 at 9am to discuss how they are each working to pull together diverse communities in their various art practices (from animation, action and performance to political protest and political candidacy.)
